UAE Club Al Urooba Threaten To Report Liverpool To Fifa Over Approach For Njoku
Published: June 23, 2016
United Arab Emirates club Al Urooba have threatened to report English team Liverpool to Fifa over their illegal approach for former Nigeria U15 international Jacob Njoku.
It would be recalled that the striker was among the four teenagers that traveled to England in April to undergo trials with the Reds and his agent had earlier claimed that his contract was due to run out in the summer.
It is confirmed that Njoku went AWOL from the second-tier club immediately after he was paid his wages by his bankers, and later surfaced in Merseyside.
“Jacob Njoku took his passport and ran away to Nigeria, he still has a contract with Al Urooba until next year, ” sporting manager of Al Urooba, Khalefa, told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We wanted him to play for the first team this year, we called him up to one hundred times but he didn’t answer so we had to bring in new players.
“I know he went to Liverpool but his contract is with us. ”
Before his trip to Nigeria, Jacob Njoku was offered fresh terms by Al Urooba that would have seen him pocket a minimum of $7,000 per month if he had signed the deal.
Al Urooba have reported the ex-Porto starlet to the United Arab Emirates Football Association and it is envisaged that the governing body will contact Fifa and the Nigerian Federation.
