Published: June 23, 2016
Former Golden Eaglets star Stanley Okoro has claimed that he is attracting interest from teams based in Belgium and Slovenia in the summer transfer window.
Following his release by Almeria at the end of the 2014-2015 season, the winger, otherwise known as Little Messi, penned a short-term contract with Abia Warriors in April in order to maintain his fitness ahead of a possible return to Europe.
“I still hope to return to Europe, I’m still waiting for something to happen. There is interest from Belgium and Slovenia, ”Stanley Okoro told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The 23-year-old represented Heartland before he switched to Europe and he has noticed some differences between the way the league is run in Nigeria and Spain.
“There are a lot of changes compared to when I left Nigeria, the Nigerian Professional Football League still has a long way to go.
“The level of officiating( is poor), the stadiums and they don’t pay players their entitlements, ” he concluded.
Abia Warriors are believed to be owing their players backlog of wages, including Stanley Okoro.
