Nigeria Set To Beat England In Race For Charlton Athletic Starlet, GK Starts Training With Golden Eaglets
Published: July 18, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Nigeria Football Federation has leapfrogged England in the race to secure the international future of highly-rated Charlton Athletic glovesman Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu.
Having trained with one of the England youth teams at DE13 9PD in April 2015, there was a cloud surrounding the international future of the goalkeeper, and the player’s camp had wanted him to represent the Three Lions initially.
But Ogbebor-Onaiwu ended those speculations when he jetted into Abuja from the United Kingdom on Sunday.
As from Monday, July 18, Nigeria U17s coach Manu Garba and his assistants will start running the rule over the 15-year-old goalkeeper.
The former Crystal Palace youth-teamer has been linked with Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and Bury in the summer transfer window.
