RB Leipzig striker Davie Selke is eyeing a win against Nigeria in Wednesday night’s clash in Sao Paulo at the Olympic Games.
Germany have never qualified for the final of the Olympic Games, with a bronze in the 1988 edition their best performance so far, while the Nigeria U23s have played in two finals, winning one and losing the other.
“Of course, Rio is our goal. But first we have the semi final in Sao Paulo, and we will need to be at our absolute best to walk away as winners, ” Selke was quoted as saying by dfb.de.
Borussia Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter added : “We are desperate to get to the final. We want a medal.”
Aside Goretzka, who got injured in the group phase, the remaining 17 players are available for selection against Nigeria.
