Chelsea Star Mikel Does Not Want History To Repeat Itself
Published: August 17, 2016
Nigeria U23 skipper Obi Mikel has recollected that the Dream Team lost their only game so far at the 2016 Olympic Games at the Arena Corinthians, São Paulo, venue of the semifinal tie with Germany on Wednesday.
The Samson Siasia-led side had already qualified for the knockout rounds before they faced off against Colombia, and it has been debated that they took their feet off the pedal, with manager Samson Siasia making five changes in the starting XI.
“I feel we are ready . The last time we were here the result (2-0 loss to Colombia) was not the best, I hope this time is different, ” said Mikel.
“They have a good team . I hope we can keep our game plan to get a good result and go to the final.”
The Nigeria U23s have never lost a semifinal match at the Olympics, while their German counterparts have never qualified for the final.
