Super Eagles rising star Kelechi Iheanacho has admitted that Nigerians and Imo State natives are pleased that he has committed his long term future to Manchester City.
Though not stated by City on Thursday, it is assumed that Iheanacho’s new deal will see him earning more than his previous wages, and the striker has stated that his family will enjoy the benefits.
“I can’t express how I’m feeling! I’m very happy to sign my new deal for this Club. I’m excited, ” Kelechi told mancity.com.
“My family are so happy and it is going to change their lives I think. In my state and my country, people will be so happy as well.
“I’m pleased and they will be pleased for me for working well to get here.”
The 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho pocketed £20,000-a-week, excluding taxation, before the extension of his contract.
He is in line to make his second appearance of the new season against Stoke City this weekend.
