Revealed : Liverpool Midfielder Ejaria, Arsenal Striker Akpom Were NEVER Considered For Nigeria Call Up
Published: August 20, 2016
Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria and Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom were never considered for the African Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Tanzania, according to a top Nigeria Football Federation insider
The Nigeria Football Federation announced the 23 players summoned for the game in Uyo on September 3, with both players not making the roster.
“It is not true that Ejaria and Akpom were considered for the game against Tanzania. If you analyze the list, there are no strange players invited, ” an NFF insider told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“The Tanzania game comes up barely one month before the World Cup qualifiers against Zambia, so this is not the right time to test new players except they are exceptional players. ”
Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has made it crystal clear that he wants to continue representing England internationally despite several approaches by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The 18-year-old Ejaria must start playing competitively for the first team of Liverpool before he is handed an invitation to the Nigerian national teams in future.
