Nigeria U23s skipper John Obi Mikel has thanked Chelsea staff and the fans for their support during his participation at the recently concluded 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Aged 29, the central midfielder was one of the two players above the age limit included in Nigeria’s 18-man squad for the Games, and the Blues hierarchy permitted him to represent the African champions despite the tournament falling outside Fifa’s window for international matches.
“Thank you to all the players, staff and fans for making this dream come true ð ð³ð¬ now back to Premier League #CFC, ” tweeted Mikel.
Having missed the first two games of the season against West Ham and Watford, the Nigeria number ten is once again available for selection when the Blues tackle Burnley in the Premier League this coming Saturday.
