Published: August 22, 2016
Chelsea U23s picked up their first three points of the new season with a resounding 4-1 win against Liverpool in the Premier League 2 on Monday night.
The Blues manager Adi Viveash lined up his team in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Fikayo Tomori one of the three central defenders and England youth international Ike Ugbo leading their frontline.
Chelsea pressurized the Reds and were finally rewarded with a goal in the 61st minute, thanks to Quintero, before the visitors leveled two minutes later through Wilson.
Goals from Mount and Sterling gave the home team a two-goal lead and Ugbo added more gloss to the scoreline in the second minute of injury time when he fired in Wakefield’s inviting cross.
Liverpool’s Nigerian midfielder Ovie Ejaria recently resumed training after picking up an injury during the first team’s tour of the United States, but did not make the U23s squad for today’s game held at Electrical Services Stadium.
