EFL Cup Wrap : Onomah Scores First Goal For Spurs; Abraham On Song; Maja Debuts; Iheanacho Fires Blanks; Tosin Subbed In; Sonupe, Onuoha Benched   Rundown of how players of Nigerian descent fared in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.

At Loftus Road, Sunderland beat homers Queens Park Rangers 2-1. Josh Maja was handed his senior debut for the Black Cats when he replaced Sweden U21 international Joel Asoro with 21 minutes remaining.

Nedum Onuoha remained on the QPR bench for the entirety of the contest while Republic of Ireland youth-teamer Olamide Shodipo was not selected.

Italy international Angelo Ogbonna put in a ninety-minute shift in defense in West Ham’s 1-0 win over League Two team Accrington Stanley.

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho started and was in action for 80 minutes in Manchester City’s 2-1 win at Swansea City.  Teammate Tosin Adarabioyo came off the bench in the 90th minute.

Over to Craven Cottage, England youth internationals Tayo Edun and Dennis Adeniran started for Fulham in their 2-1 loss to Tammy Abraham’s Bristol City. Sone Aluko was not involved .

Abraham appeared off the bench in the 62nd minute, Edun was replaced seven minutes later and Adeniran went the distance. The Chelsea loanee netted the game-winner in the 90th minute to take his tally to nine goals in all competitions.

Emmanuel Sonupe was a non-playing substitute for Northampton Town in their 3-1 loss at home to Manchester United at Sixfields Stadium.  

Hull City have advanced to the fourth round thanks to their 2-1 win over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium . Injured Moses Odubajo did not feature for the Tigers.

England U20 international Josh Onomah put Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 up in their win against third-tier Gillingham. The attacking midfielder struck in the 65th minute and played the full game.

Adedeji Oshilaja and Emmanuel Osadebe started and completed the game for Gillingham. England midfielder Dele Alli was rested by the Spurs manager. The game ended 5-0 at White Hart Lane.
