Chelsea Star Mikel Targets Premier League Golden Boot Award
Published: September 22, 2016
Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is targeting the top scorer award in the English Premier League this season, if we are to swallow his statement via his official Twitter account hook, line and sinker.
September 21, 2016 marked the third year he opened his account in the English top-flight when he hit target in the 84th minute in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham on game week five during the 2013-2014 season.
And the Nigeria skipper took to social media on Wednesday to reminisce about his maiden goal, tweeting : “Three years ago today...my first @ChelseaFC PL goal in the West London derby. Now for the Golden Boot ðð¿ ð.”
Prior to his strike at Stamford Bridge, Mikel, 29, had 184 career appearances under his belt for the first team of Chelsea without scoring.
He is spending his eleventh consecutive season at Chelsea.
