Injured Sunderland Striker Victor Anichebe Will Not Face Old Club
Published: October 01, 2016
Nigeria international Victor Anichebe returned to the treatment room ahead of Sunderland’s Premier League clash with his old club West Brom at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The Black Cats medical staff had worked round the clock to get the striker back to fitness before he made his competitive debut last weekend but has suffered a relapse, with manager David Moyes confirming that he sustained a groin injury.
Victor Anichebe was in action for four minutes in Sunderland’s 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace, his first competitive appearance since April 16, 2016 when he took to the pitch against Odion Ighalo’s Watford.
The former Everton starlet spent three years at West Brom before signing a one-season deal with Sunderland in September.
