Super Eagles Striker Gbolahan Salami Tallies 12th Goal Of The Season
Published: October 14, 2016
Gbolahan Salami was on target for KuPS in their Veikkausliiga tie with RoPS on Friday evening but the strike counted for nothing in the end, with the Kuopio based team losing 2-1.
The Nigeria international had opened scoring in the 25th minute from a free kick taken by Saku Savolainen, but the home team equalized five minutes later before Jarkko Lahdenmaeki grabbed the game-winning goal in the 42nd minute.
Three Super Eagles stars - Salami, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Paul Onobi - started and clocked 90 minutes, while RoPS attacking midfielder William Oluremi John was on the bench for the entire duration.
The 25-year-old Salami is KuPS top scorer with 12 goals to his name in the Finnish top-flight.
Marko Rajamaeki’s side are seventh in the standings two games before the end of the season.
