Mikel Still Has Chelsea In His Heart Despite Snub By Conte
Published: October 24, 2016
Nigeria skipper John Obi Mikel showed he still has Chelsea in his heart despite his lack of first team opportunities so far in the 2016-2017 season, after praising his teammates for their performance against Manchester United on Sunday.
Since returning to Stamford Bridge after representing the Nigerian U23 national team at the Olympic Games, the defensive midfielder has not been considered for selection in eight straight games in the league and Cup.
And it is thought he fell out of favour with manager Antonio Conte after he decided to skip majority of pre-season training in order to represent Nigeria in the competition held in Brazil in August.
“Good morning everyone .. well done to the boys yesterday, amazing performance, result and atmosphere ðµ âªï¸ #BlueIsTheColour #MatthewHarding, ” Mikel tweeted on Monday morning.
Assuming he was selected against Manchester United, it would have been his 250th appearance for Chelsea in the Premier League.
