Ndukwu, Ughelumba Sparkle As Leicester City Lose Five-Goal Thriller In UYL
Published: November 02, 2016
Nigerian young stars Layton Ndukwu and Calvin Ughelumba put in an impressive performance but could not prevent Leicester City from losing 3-2 to FC Copenhagen in a thrilling clash staged at the Osterbro Stadion on Wednesday.
England youth international Ndukwu put in a full shift yet again just as he did against Porto, Club Brugge and the Danish opponents in England, while Ughelumba was introduced immediately after the intermission.
With the hosts leading 2-0 at the end of the first half, the Foxes manager made a tactical substitution by bringing on the 16-year-old defender to steady the backline and it proved to be a masterclass, with the English team failing to concede until injury time when Hjulmand struck from 25 yards.
A brace from Barnes either side of the half had restored parity for Leicester City, after Kristoffersen and Rojkjaer struck inside the opening eight minutes.
Leicester City will be eliminated from the Youth League if they fail to beat Club Brugge at home in their next fixture on November 22, 2016.
