Ex-Saint-Etienne Wonderkid Ejenavi Commits International Future To Algeria Ahead Of Nigeria
Published: November 06, 2016
The Algerian Football Federation are in pole position to secure the international future of ex-Saint-étienne wonderkid Nabil Ejenavi ahead of their Nigerian and French counterparts, with the midfielder proclaiming that he would love to play for the Desert Foxes rather than the Super Eagles.
Ejenavi was born in Marseille, France 22 years ago to an Algerian mom and Nigerian father, who was raised in Warri, meaning he can represent the aforementioned countries.
But the Algerian Federation are poised to snatch the Oborishte Panagyurishte star from under the noses of Nigeria, as he has played two games for the Algerian U23 national team against Senegal and Qatar in November 2014.
Asked if he has ever been to Nigeria, Ejenavi told dzfoot.com : “No, but I have all my father’s family there, I would love to go there one day with him.
“My mother is from Annaba and my father was born in Nigeria in the region of Warri but I grew up in Marseille, I am closer to Algeria.”
Ejenavi, who can play multiple offensive positions, also represented Istres, ASO Chlef and Montana before he moved to Bulgarian club Oborishte Panagyurishte.
