Jersey Numbers At Training Give A Hint Of Starting XI; Chelsea Ace Moses Takes Back No 11 Shirt, Ighalo 9
Published: November 08, 2016
The jersey numbers worn by the Super Eagles players during their first training session on Tuesday morning have given a hint of the players set to be included in the starting XI versus Algeria, if we consider the traditional way of shirt numbering, that is 1-11.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was seen donning the number 16 shirt and this suggests that he is below the pecking order of goalkeepers in the eyes of coach Rohr and Alloy Agu.
Gent defender William Troost-Ekong and Mainz 05 star Leon Balogun could partner in central defense having been handed the number five and six jersey respectively.
Chelsea new wing-back Victor Moses has been allocated the number 11 shIrt, which was worn by Moses Simon when he stepped out onto the pitch against Zambia.
While that number has been synonymous with Victor Moses since he started playing for the Super Eagles, he could replace Simon in the starting XI versus Algeria, with Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa occupying the other flank.
Moses Simon has been handed the number 15 shirt and Shehu Abdullahi sported the number 12.
Kelechi Iheanacho has been assigned the number 14 kit, Arsenal talent Alex Iwobi wore number 18, while Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo retained the number four shirt.
Mikel trained with the number ten shirt this morning, as you would expect, Ideye and Ighalo wore the number 8 and 9 jersey respectively.
