The Premier League has picked Sone Aluko’s goal against Newcastle United back in the 2013-2014 season as its Goal of the Day, according to the its official website.
Hull City defeated Newcastle United 3-2 at St James’ Park, with their Nigeria international netting the game-winner in the 76th minute.
Second-half substitute, George Boyd, had picked out Aluko on the edge of the box and he fired a left-footed volley into the top corner.
Aged 24 years 7 months 2 days, the strike against the Magpies was the Nigerian’s maiden goal in the English top-flight, and was the most eye-catching goal in the league that month according to Match Magazine.
Sone Aluko played 17 games in the Premier League that season and provided four assists.
