Exclusive: ADO Den Haag Starlet Nigel Nwankwo Reveals He Will Turn Down Nigeria Call-Up For Now
Published: November 26, 2016
ADO Den Haag fullback Nigel Ogidi Nwankwo, 18, has insinuated that he will reject a call-up to the Super Eagles for the time being, amid speculations in the local media that he could be invited to one of the national teams in the near future.
Dutch-based wing-backs Tyronne Ebuehi and Kingsley Ehizibue are on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation, with the former earning his first call-up to the Super Eagles for the World Cup qualifier versus Algeria, which he turned down as he wants to establish himself in the first team of ADO Den Haag.
Like Ehizibue and Ebuehi, Nwankwo’s priority for now is to be a first-team player at The Storks, having trained with the squad this season.
“I was born in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and a Nigerian father, ” said Nigel Nwankwo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“For now I am just focusing on my training, I will make a choice about my international future later in the future.
“I am a left fullback and a central defender. ”
Nigel Ogidi Nwanwko, who has been tipped for stardom, currently represents the U19 team of ADO Den Haag.
