Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has turned down a move to an English Premier League club after they failed to meet his wage demands, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
In the last one month, an unnamed Premier League club had been locked in talks with the defensive midfielder before pulling the plug on the deal this week.
“The transfer talks have broken down, his wage demands are a big issue so it is difficult to do a deal, ” a United Kingdom based intermediary who was involved in negotiations with Mikel and his camp told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Mikel, 29, saw a transfer to Spanish side Valencia in the January transfer window fall through after he demanded 10 million euros wages.
