Rundown of how players of Nigerian descent fared in the 17th round of matches in the English Premier League on Saturday, December 17.
Champions Leicester City came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Stoke City at Bet365 Stadium. Super Eagles assistant captain Ahmed Musa played the last ten minutes of the contest.
Three Nigerian strikers - Odion Ighalo, Victor Anichebe and Isaac Success- tasted action at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland won for fourth time this season, beating Watford 1-0.
Ighalo and Anichebe put in a full shift, Success came on nine minutes out of intermission. Black Cats young star Joel Asoro remained on the bench and Josh Maja didn’t make the squad.
Italy international Stefano Okaka has not fully recovered and wasn’t in the Hornets traveling party to SR5 1SU.
Angelo Ogbonna helped West Ham goalkeeper post a shutout in his side’s 1-0 win versus Hull City. The Italy defender played the full game. Hull City wing-back Moses Odubajo is out until 2017 due to injury.
In the early kickoff, Chelsea won their eleventh consecutive game against Crystal Palace. Victor Moses started and played for 79 minutes. His teammates Obi Mikel, Ola Aina, Dominic Solanke and Fikayo Tomori were not selected.
In the late kickoff, Wales international Hal Robson-Kanu starts yet again on the bench for West Brom in their clash with Manchester United at The Hawthorns.
