Published: December 26, 2016
Speaking after Chelsea won their twelfth game of the season to set a new club record, Italian manager Antonio Conte said it was necessary Ola Aina tasted action against Bournemouth today in the Premier League.
Having impressed during pre-season, Aina has more or less being promoted to the first team with the right-back making the Blues 18-man squad 13 times in all competitions this season.
“The players deserved this. They are showing me great focus, concentration, attitude and behaviour, ” Conte told chelseafc.com.
“Also today to have two players from our Academy, Chalobah and Aina, come on, is important.”
In what appeared to be a tactical substitution, Victor Moses was replaced by Aina in the 90th minute.
Aina has started two games, against Bristol Rovers and West Ham in the League Cup, while he came off the bench against Leicester City and the Cherries in the Premier League.
