Published: December 30, 2016
Fortuna Sittard players have hailed the appointment of ex-Ajax Amsterdam star Sunday Oliseh as manager of the Eerste Divisie club, and stressed that he has the pedigree to improve their dismal fortunes.
Oliseh took over as manager on a one-and-a-half year contract after Ben van Dael was dismissed following poor results in the first half of the season.
Right back Christopher Braun said to the club’s official website : “I am very happy. When Oliseh played football in Germany, he was one of my favorite players. A very good choice of Fortuna”.
Captain Ferry de Regt added : “I knew him directly from Ajax. Oliseh played of course for big clubs. So he brings a lot of experience to the team. Let’s have a nice, second half of the season”.
Roald van Hout commented : “The first thing that crossed my mind was what a big name in football the club contracted.
“As a player he experienced a lot and that’s very interesting Automatically Oliseh gains a lot of respect by the players Everybody in football knows him.”
After 19 rounds in the Dutch second-tier, Fortuna Sittard are staring relegation in the face, with only 15 points accumulated and occupy 18th place.
