English FA Praises Ndidi : He Was Leicester City Hero
Published: February 10, 2017
The English FA via its official website has showered Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi with praise after scoring for Leicester City in their 3-1 win versus Derby County in the Emirates FA Cup on Wednesday.
The Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri made several changes to his side, one of which saw his number 25 drop to the bench, ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Swansea City on Sunday.
With the scoreboard reading 1-1, Ndidi came off the bench in the 91st minute, before notching his first goal for the club he joined in January three minutes later with a stunning 25-yard shot that beat goalkeeper Mitchell.
In its report of the match, the English FA stated : “Yet just four minutes after coming off the bench, Ndidi proved the Foxes hero, ghosting his way through to unleash a fantastic strike in off the post, while Mitchell had to have his wits about him to prevent a second for King”.
The 20-year-old Ndidi penned a five-and-a-half-year contract with Leicester City, setting a Nigerian transfer record for Belgian-based players in the process.
