Nigerian Prospects Celebrate Winning League Title With Manchester City
Published: February 12, 2017
Nigerian talents are celebrating after Manchester City clinched the U18 Premier League North section after a 4-2 win over Stoke City at Clayton Wood Training Ground on Saturday.
City won the title as they have an unassailable nine-point gap over second-place Manchester United with two rounds left.
England youth Nathanael Ogbeta, 15, would have recorded his fourth appearance of the season if he had come off the bench against the Potters.
The highly-rated midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru solidified himself as a starter for the U18s, with 14 appearances to date and three goals to his name.
Jos-born Ashinme Kigbu is another Nigerian talent that featured for the Citizens U18s squad.
Having made his debut for England U18s, the no-nonsense central defender has nothing to prove at that level and has played five games for the squad.
Manchester City won the U18 Premier League last season and have not lost a game in the 2016-2017 campaign ahead of the national stage.
