Bayern Legend Lavishes Praise On Iwobi Ahead Of Showdown In Munich
Published: February 14, 2017
Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has admitted that he is a fan of Arsenal attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi, ahead of the Champions League meeting between the German champions and the London team on Wednesday.
It is interesting to note that the Nigeria international made his Champions League bow versus Bayern last season, coming off the bench for the final six minutes of the 5-1 loss in Munich.
“You only have to look at Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud to see that, while I also like Alex Iwobi, ” Matthaus told The Sun.
“I like watching them offensively but they are so suspect defensively, despite Shkodran Mustafi, who is a very solid and important player.”
Iwobi has been involved in all the matches contested by the Gunners in the Champions League this term.
