Exciting Prospect Samuel Kalu Scores First Goal Of His Gent Career
Published: February 26, 2017
One of Nigeria’s most exciting talents Samuel Kalu netted the first goal of his Gent career as the 2015 Pro League champions beat Royal Excel Mouscron 3-1 at Ghelamco Arena on Sunday night.
The highly-rated teenager, who joined Gent from AS Trencin last month, needed only seven minutes to break the deadlock when he fired home from close range.
Kalu wasn’t the only Nigerian that started against Royal Excel Mouscron, but he lasted the distance while Anderson Esiti was applauded off the pitch in the 67th minute after another strong showing in midfield.
Tonight’s clash versus Royal Excel Mouscron was Kalu’s seventh appearance in a Gent shirt in all competitions.
With two rounds left to play in the regular season, Gent will be hoping to qualify for the play-offs as they trail sixth place KV Mechelen by one point.
