Sunderland Provide Latest Update On Victor Anichebe Fitness
Published: April 04, 2017
Relegation-threatened Sunderland are still sweating on the fitness of Victor Anichebe ahead of their game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
Manager David Moyes has confirmed that the Nigeria international is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained in the Premier League clash against West Brom on January 21.
“We’re in that period though where Victor we’re probably missing more than anybody, ” Moyes told the national press on Monday.
“With or without Jermain we’re needing someone who gives us a way of getting up the pitch really.”
Anichebe has enjoyed a new lease of life since reuniting with his former coach at Everton, with three goals in his last nine matches prior to his spell on the sidelines.
