Man City's Iheanacho Makes History As Arsenal Set Up Final Meeting With Chelsea
Published: April 23, 2017
Arsenal have set up a meeting with Chelsea in the final of the Emirates FA Cup after coming from behind to defeat Manchester City 2-1 after extra time at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Citizens had the better of the first half, having dominated possession and created the better chances, but could not break the deadlock.
On 62 minutes, Manchester City took the lead with Aguero chipping the ball over Cech after outpacing Monreal, and Ozil almost responded immediately but saw his effort narrowly miss target.
A dangerous delivery into the box from Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 72nd minute was met by left fullback Monreal, who blasted the ball into the back of the net with his weaker right foot to make amends for his error that led to City's goal.
In the closing minutes of the second half, Toure hit the post with an astonishing effort before Fernandinho struck the crossbar with a header after getting in between a couple of Arsenal defenders.
Ten minutes into first half extra time, Man City were uncomfortable defending and Alexis Sanchez was on the right spot to fire home from close range.
Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho made history when he became the fourth substitute to be used in the FA Cup after replacing Raheem Sterling in the 106th minute, while Arsenal's Iwobi was an unused substitute.
