Published: May 18, 2017
Taiwo Awoniyi is finally living up to his billing as a future star, with the Nigeria U23 international finding the net for the third game in a row in a playoff game staged at the JenS Vesting Stadion between Emmen and NEC Nijmegen.
Awoniyi came off the bench on the hour mark before scoring to give the visitors a 3-1 lead with two minutes remaining.
The number nine was at the edge of the box before he received a pass, showed good skill to evade a defender, then curled the ball past the goalkeeper.
Awoniyi opened his account for the season in the penultimate round of the regular season against AZ and netted his second goal in the Eredivisie against Heerenveen four days ago.
The 19-year-old is on a season-long loan at NEC from Premier League side Liverpool.
