Ex-Wolfsburg Star Akpoborie Has Some Advice For Rohr : Leave Osimhen Out Of Friendlies
Published: May 22, 2017
Retired Nigeria international Jonathan Akpoborie has urged Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to forget about counting on the services of Wolfsburg striker Victor Osimhen for the national team's get-together in France.
Osimhen is doubtful to make his international debut against Corsica or Togo, with Wolfsburg facing a relegation/promotion playoff against Eintracht Braunschweig on 25th and 29th May to decide who will feature in the Bundesliga next season.
''They are just friendlies meant to help the team gel up. It's a good set up for me,'' said Akpoborie to Brila FM.
''For Victor Osimhen and Wolfsburg , the relegation situation was not planned. So he must be excused.
''I'm not sure what role Osimhen will play for Wolfsburg, he should be excused from Super Eagles.''
Osimhen, 18, was called up for Nigeria's international friendly against Senegal back in March, but he was still undergoing rehabilitation after surgery and pulled out of the squad.
