Why Chelsea Refused To Loan Out Nigerian Striker To Newcastle United
Published: June 25, 2017
Premier League champions Chelsea failed to rubber-stamp Tammy Abraham's proposed season-long loan move to Newcastle United because they did not want the striker to be distracted.
The Mirror says Chelsea higher-ups were concerned about the city's famous nightlife and urged him to snub The Magpies.
Abraham, 19, is expected to complete his move to Swansea City after the 2017 European U21 Championship.
And Chelsea know he'll be in good hands at the Welsh club as manager Paul Clement was an assistant manager at The Blues before his arrival at the Liberty Stadium.
Abraham, who netted 26 goals in all competitions while at Bristol City, has also been linked with Brighton & Hove and Celtic in recent days.
