Ex-USA U23 Star Ike Opara Nominated For MLS Goal Of The Week... As Expected
Published: June 26, 2017
Ike Opara's wonder goal against LA Galaxy on Saturday is in the running for Major League Soccer's Goal of the Week, as you might have expected.
In the 35th minute of the match staged at Stubhub Center in California, goalkeeper Diop charged off his line when he had no chance of beating Opara to the ball, and the central defender produced a stunning bicycle kick.
The former USA U23 international will have to see off competition from David Accam (Chicago Fire), Fafa Picault (Philadelphia Union), Jack Harrison (New York City FC), and Patrick Nyarko (DC United) to win the accolade.
Ike Opara's strike versus LA Galaxy was his second goal in the regular season.
The winner of the GOTW for week seventeen will be announced at the end of voting on June 29.
