Fraudulent Ivorian Agent Alfred Obrou Dupes Nigerian Intermediary, Ex-Super Eagles Star Of N4.03 Million
Published: June 29, 2017
A popular Ivorian intermediary Alfred Obrou has defrauded an Italian-based Nigerian agent Ben Itorho and ex-Super Eagles star Prince Ike Ekong of 10,000 euros (equivalent of N4.03 million) following the transfer of Haruna Garba to Djurgårdens IF in March.
Obrou, otherwise known as Alfredo in football circles, was introduced to Itorho through his French-based partner when the Swedish Allsvenskan side indicated interest in signing his client Garba.
Alfredo was the agent of the coach of the aforementioned team and had agreed to a 50/50 arrangement regarding the sharing of the agency commission, but he disappeared into thin air after his domiciliary account was credited with 200,000 Swedish Krona by Djurgårdens IF.
Itorho explained to allnigeriasoccer.com : ''I want this to serve as a warning to unsuspecting agents and players from Nigeria and West Africa in general to beware of con men and dupes in this football management business.
''Alfredo was vouched for by my French friend but ran away with the money after he was paid. Initially he said we should give a week or two to access the funds from his Ivorian account.
''But after a month of asking him if he had transferred my share of the commission due me and my partner Prince Ikpe Ekong, he stopped responding to my messages and answering calls.''
He added : ''The irony is that he was putting so much pressure on Djurgårdens to pay the commission but when he received the money he disappeared, he is nowhere to be found after two to three months.
''I don't want other unsuspecting agents and players to fall prey because he is a man widely connected so to speak, having worked with top Ivorian players. He is based in Sweden and France where he has dual nationality.''
Allnigeriasoccer.com contacted Alfred Obrou (+33635701290) to hear his version of events but came up against a brick wall.
