Iwobi Sets Up Arsenal's Record Signing Lacazette For Debut Goal In Win vs Sydney FC
Published: July 13, 2017
Super Eagles rising star Alex Iwobi was involved in Arsenal's first-preseason fixture on Thursday, playing the last 22 minutes of their 2-0 win over defending A-League champions Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium.
The visitors were 1-0 up at the end of the first half courtesy of Per Mertesacker's acrobatic effort in the fourth minute.
Sydney failed to clear the ball out from a corner, allowing Mertesacker to volley home from close range.
On 83 minutes, Alexandre Lacazette, the big money signing from Lyon, doubled Arsenal's advantage when he fired the ball home after he was set up by Iwobi.
Arsene Wenger's side trade tackles with Western Sydney Wanderers in their next friendly on Saturday, before facing Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Benfica and Sevilla in that order.
