Manchester United Legend Sets New Premier League Record

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney set a new Premier League record in Everton's 1-0 win over Stoke City at Goodison Park on the opening weekend of the 2017-2018 season.
The England international netted the game winning goal when he planted a powerful header past Butland in the 45th minute.
According to the statisticians at OPTA, Rooney set a new Premier League record for the longest gap between goals for the same team (4869 days).
A delighted Rooney said in his post match comments :''Coming back to play for Everton is a big deal for me.''
''To play my first Premier League game back here at Goodison and score the winner – it doesn’t get much better. ''
Rooney, 31, last scored for The Toffees in their 1-1 draw with Leeds United on April 13 2004, prior to today's meeting against the Potters.
