Victorious Nigeria U20 Girls Cry Out: No Food Or Water In Tanzania, Ethiopia
Published: October 02, 2017
Nigeria Women's U20 football team, the Falconets, are going through hard times again, this time in a foreign land, despite recording an impressive 6-0 win against Tanzania in a 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifier.
The teenagers and their officials have been abandoned by the Nigeria Football Federation and will head to Nigeria later today on empty stomachs, as there are no funds for their feeding expenses.
''The Falconets players have not been paid their match bonuses and no camp allowances,'' a top source in Tanzania told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''Also, we are traveling today, no arrangement for money for the team to eat food or buy water in Ethiopia.
''The worst is that this afternoon there's no food for us in the hotel as we are to check out by 12 pm. Nobody knows what will happen later, we are all confused''.
Braces from Rasheedat Ajibade and Folashade Ijamilusi plus additional tallies from Anam Imo and Cynthia Aku led Nigeria closer to qualifying for their ninth appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
