GK Ikeme Got Money From Super Eagles Players After Beating Zambia
Published: October 13, 2017
After their 1-0 win over Zambia in the World Cup qualifiers last weekend, the Super Eagles players gave a portion of their bonus to Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who is receiving treatment for leukaemia.
Manager Gernot Rohr revealed that Ikeme put in an impressive performance when the national team beat Zambia 2-1 in their opening match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Third Round.
''When you win you have a bonus, everybody gave his part to Carl, don’t forget him. He was very happy.
“The next thing is to go and see him and say thanks,'' Rohr told Lagos Talks 91.3.
''He will be out for a long time, we pray for him and dedicate all our victories to him. We hope he will be with us in Russia.
''He put us on the right way to the World Cup with the win in Zambia, he made a great game, he got us the result with three, four great saves''.
Ikeme posted two shutouts in the home and away legs against Swaziland in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers.
