Argentina Demanded N720 Million From Azerbaijan Before Accepting To Face NigeriaSecretary General of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan Elkhan Mammadov has explained why the Azerbaijan national team refused to play Argentina in a friendly next month.

Both Argentina and Nigerian Federations have confirmed that their national teams will face off in a friendly that will be staged in Krasnodar, Southern Russia on November 14, but the South Americans had first approached Azerbaijan.

''Agents of the national team of Argentina came to us on the eve of the match with the national team of Russia. They wanted to find an opponent in this region, so they made an offer to us,'' Mammadov told azerisport.com.

''But, given the lack of time and interests of Qarabag FC, whose schedule of games in November is rather dense, we refused. After all, the risk of injury is also great.

''Usually matches with them start with two million or more. But we did not even turn to talking about this topic.

''In our case, it was about € 2 million (N720 million) , and we did not even begin to knock down the price, because we were not interested in this game.

''There are several reasons. Two of them I mentioned above. Time is also important.''

Argentina demanded more than one million dollars for a friendly match with Ukraine before accepting to face the Super Eagles.
