Liverpool Star Backing England U17 Sensation To Equal Osimhen's World Cup Record
Published: October 27, 2017
Liverpool's Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum is backing England U17 sensation Rhian Brewster to equal Victor Osimhen's single tournament scoring record of ten goals when the Young Lions tackle Spain in the showpiece game of the World Cup on Saturday.
The ex-Chelsea starlet will enter Fifa's history books if he scores a treble against the Spaniards as no player has managed to bag a hat-trick in the final since the inception of the competition 32 years ago.
''I feel really proud of him. I was really proud from the first time that I saw him, because he’s a young player but what I like is that he was not shy when he came to the first team, but in a good way,'' Wijnaldum told Liverpoolfc.com.
The number five added : ''I want to wish him good luck and I hope he’s going to score three again - minimum three and I hope more, of course!''
While Victor Osimhen registered his name on the score-sheet in each of the seven matches contested by the Golden Eaglets two years ago, Brewster has found the net in three games in the ongoing tournament in India.
A certain Victor Moses was the record scorer for England U17s at the U17 World Cup before his goals record was surpassed by Rhian Brewster six days ago.
