Talented Nigerian Winger To Be Rewarded With New Arsenal Deal
Published: November 07, 2017
Talented Nigerian winger Xavier Amaechi is poised to sign a new deal with Premier League side Arsenal in the coming weeks.
Gunners youth-team guru Jeorge Bird writes on his website that Amaechi is already guaranteed to sign professional terms with Arsenal when he turns 17 in January and it is hoped that he can quickly establish himself as an integral part of the U18 side.
Like Nigeria star Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom, the 16-year-old graduated from Arsenal's famous Hale End Academy, which produced the likes of Ashley Cole, Martin Keown, Jack Wilshere, Wojciech Szczęsny and Hal Robson-Kanu.
Amaechi has not figured competitively for the Gunners U18s this campaign because he had been nursing an injury, but he's nearing a return to full fitness having made the match squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League Cup this past weekend.
Born January 5, 2001, the highly-rated offensive all-rounder signed a scholarship with Arsenal in the summer of 2017.
Amaechi, who joined Arsenal at the age of 12, has played for England at U15 and U16 level.
