Nigerian Midfielder Provides Assist As Man Utd Beat Athletic Bilbao In PL Intl Cup
Published: November 15, 2017
Manchester United made it two wins from two in the Premier League International Cup after coming from behind to beat Spanish side Athletic Bilbao 2-1 at Leigh Sports Village Stadium (Leigh, Greater Manchester) on Wednesday night.
Lagos-born Nigerian midfielder Tosin Kehinde started and put in a full shift for the Red Devils U23 squad but there was no place in the 18 for United States youth-teamer Matthew Olosunde, who has not made the squad since he sustained an injury against Derby County two months ago.
Manchester United had fallen behind to a Gorka Guruzeta goal in the ninth minute and the scoreboard was not updated at half-time despite the home team having long periods of possession.
James Wilson leveled two minutes out of intermission before Ethan Hamilton secured a win for the Red Devils with seven minutes left on the clock.
Hamilton fired home after he was set up by Tosin Kehinde, who elected to pass rather than shoot after a loose ball fell to him inside Athletic Bilbao's penalty area.
Kehinde made his ninth appearance of the season in all competitions against Athletic Bilbao.
