Eddy Onazi, Moses Simon Return To Action For Trabzonspor, Gent
Published: November 19, 2017
Trabzonspor midfielder Eddy Onazi and Gent winger Moses Simon have returned to action for their respective clubs.
The duo were named to Nigeria's roster for the games against Algeria and Argentina but had to withdraw from the squad due to injury but they have finished their recovery programmes.
Onazi started Trabzonspor's 4-3 win over Raheem Lawal's Osmanlıspor on Sunday afternoon and came through ninety minutes unscathed, while Simon was named in Gent's starting line-up against Lokeren at Daknamstadion tonight.
They played key roles as Nigeria qualified for their sixth World Cup with a game to spare, and were invited for all the matches in the third round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The qualification of the Super Eagles for the mundial was the reason behind their clubs' decisions to refuse to allow the pair travel to link up with the national team in Rabat, Morocco on November 6.
It is a foregone conclusion that Onazi and Simon will be named in Nigeria's 23-man World Cup squad list next summer, barring an injury.
