Why Iwobi Was A Late Addition To Arsenal Starting XI Vs Burnley
Published: November 27, 2017
It has come to light that Alex Iwobi was a late addition to Arsenal's starting line-up in Sunday's Premier League match against Burnley at Turf Moor.
The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger had intended to start Mesut Ozil ahead of the Nigeria star but tinkered with his selection after the Germany international suddenly developed illness and had to return to London.
''I haven’t even seen him, the doctor came to see me and said we had to travel him back today,'' Wenger told arsenal.com on Sunday.
''He was in the hotel with us. He travelled up and travelled back and we brought Maitland-Niles, who arrived at 1pm because we were only 17 [without Mesut].
''Will he be available for Wednesday? Certainly he will be short for Wednesday.''
Iwobi was replaced by Jack Wilshere in the 65th minute of the contest against Burnley and Wenger will have to decide which one of the two players will start against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday.
