Fifa Simulates World Cup Draw: Nigeria Face Germany, Denmark & Uruguay Group F
Published: November 28, 2017
With only three days left before the 2018 World Cup draw scheduled to take place in Moscow on December 1, Fifa has published a video on its official Youtube Channel explaining the procedures.
It has already been predetermined that the Super Eagles are in pot 4, the allocation of which teams go into which pots is based on Fifa ranking with the exception of Russia who are seeded as hosts.
To avoid geographical clash, no two countries from the same Confederation can be placed in the same group, the exception Europe who have 14 teams.
In the simulation by Fifa, Nigeria were drawn in Group F and will face Germany, Denmark and Uruguay.
The Super Eagles have never met Germany and Uruguay in five previous appearances at the World Cup but surprisingly lost 4-1 to Denmark in the second round at France 1998.
The World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018, with matches to be played at 12 stadiums in 11 cities.
