Moses, Chelsea Could Face Mighty Barcelona In Champions League Round Of 16
Published: December 06, 2017
Chelsea's reward for coming second in Group C of the Champions League could be a meeting with Spanish powerhouse Barcelona in the next round.
It is confirmed that the Blues can't be paired with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City in the next round and Liverpool are poised to be among the teams the English champions can't face in the last sixteen if they beat Spartak Moscow at Anfield tonight.
Nigeria Player of the Year Victor Moses made his sixth Champions League appearance for Chelsea since his debut five years ago after being handed game time by manager Antonio Conte against Atletico Madrid.
''We know we could play against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain or Besiktas. When you play this competition and go through to the next round, you must be ready to face the best teams,'' Conte told chelseafc.com.
''This is a fantastic competition. If you want to go through and be a protagonist in this tournament, you must be ready to face every team.
''At the same time our opponent won’t be happy to play against us. We will see what happens.''
The Champions League last sixteen draw will take place at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on December 11.
