Everton 0 Chelsea 0: Moses Impresses Again In Chelsea's 5,000th Game, Lookman Not In 18
Published: December 23, 2017
Everton and Chelsea settled for a point apiece in their 0-0 stalemate at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, with Super Eagles star Victor Moses featuring for Antonio Conte's side, while England U21 star of Nigerian descent Ademola Lookman was left out of the Toffees match day squad.
Both sides seemed content in sitting back and nullifying each other as the first 15 minutes panned out before Moses broke free down the right flank to put in a cross in the 20th minute but Eden Hazard would fail to make hay.
The restart saw Jordan Pickford and Ashley Williams make notable clearances from danger as Chelsea upped their attacking tempo in search of the breakthrough.
The Blues danger man, Hazard soon left a fleet of markers in his trail six minutes after the hour mark to unleash a venomous shot which Pickford got down to stop.
Willian curled another effort well wide of the mark in the 70th minute before Phil Jagielka did well to block Cesc Fabregas's speculative goal-bound effort in the dying stages as the Toffees nicked a point at home.
Victor Moses came off for Davide Zappacosta with nine minutes left on the clock.
Today's game against Everton was Chelsea’s 5,000th competitive first team match since the club was founded in 1905.
