Chelsea Linked With Move For Fourth Premier League Striker
Published: January 21, 2018
According to latest information from Sky Sports, Chelsea are interested in signing Burnley's English striker Ashley Barnes in the winter transfer market.
Barnes is the fourth Premier League striker linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge, with The Blues earlier testing the waters over the signings of Andy Carroll, Fernando Llorente and Peter Crouch.
The former Torquay and Brighton star has found the net only three times this season, but Chelsea are ready to make a move nonetheless because he works hard on the pitch.
Bath-born Barnes qualifies to play for Austria through his grandmother, who was born in Klagenfurt, and has one cap for their U20 team after playing in a friendly match against Switzerland in August 2008.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, the 28-year-old numbers Paulton Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Oxford United, Salisbury City and Eastbourne Borough amongst his former clubs.
Ashley Barnes is contracted to Burnley until the summer of 2019.
