Yeovil Town 0 Man Utd 4: Sowunmi Gives A Good Account Of Himself Despite Loss
Published: January 26, 2018
Manchester United brushed aside FA Cup opponents, Yeovil Town 4-0 In the fourth round of the competition on Friday evening, with Marcus Rashford and Andre Herrera grabbing the decisive goals.
There were no first team debuts for the Nigerian contingent of Tosin Kehinde and Matthew Olosunde both of who were not listed in the Manchester United's 18 for the game while defender, Omar Sowunmi started for the hosts.
Sowunmi went close with a tame header for the League Two side following a free kick delivery from Jake Gray after 16 minutes of action but United were quick to deal their opponents a blow on the cusp of halftime.
Marcus Rashford nipped in to punish some woeful defending from Yeovil's Thomas James who made a hoax of shielding a stray ball to his keeper.
Red Devils debutant, Alexis Sanchez slid in Ander Herrera who drove in a left-footed drive at the end of an exhilarating counter to make it 2-0 a minute past the hour mark.
Jesse Lingard came off the bench to net a beauty, driving at the Yeovil back line before rifling in hard and low into the bottom corner while there was still time for another substitute, Romelu Lukaku to wrap things up in style, prodding home a fourth.
