Manchester City 1 Chelsea 0: Moses Finds The Going Tough Against Champions Elect
Published: March 04, 2018Chelsea succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening, thanks to Bernardo Silva's effort.
Super Eagle Victor Moses started in his customary wingback position for Chelsea while Nigerian starlets, Lukas Mmecha and Tosin Adarabioyo were not included in the hosts 18-man squad.
Cesar Azpilicueta made a goal line clearance to deny Leroy Sane who had struck at the Blues goal following a Kevin De Bruyne's free kick with Thibaut Courtois diving to quell the danger too.
But Chelsea were dealt a huge blow almost immediately after resumption when Bernardo Silva shook off the resistance of Marcos Alonso to rifle home after David Silva's initial shot.
Oliver Giroud came close for Chelsea three minutes after coming off the bench, the Frenchman latching onto a Cesc Fabregas ball over the top but saw his header sail harmlessly wide of goal.
Alonso and Sane both had late missed chances for their sides but that would hardly matter for the hosts as Pep Guardiola's team moved to just four wins away from claiming the title.
Moses was in action for the entire duration of the game while Argentine pair, Sergio Aguero and Nicholas Otamendi were also in action for the citizens, the former coming off after 85 minutes.
